History of the Chem-Dry Brand
Robert Harris started working his way through law school in the 1970s as a carpet cleaner and worked for many different carpet cleaning companies. He was unsatisfied with the existing cleaning results and the available cleaning products on the market. That’s when Harris began researching a better solution. He spent years researching and studying the chemical properties and reactions of cleaning formulas. In order to test his research and cleaning solutions, Harris cleaned numerous carpets and surfaces.
Eventually, Robert Harris discovered the ideal cleaning formula. His unique carbonated solution delivered exceptional cleaning while being gentle and effective. So, Harris founded Chem-Dry, and the demand for his superior cleaning services grew! His entrepreneurial journey flowered into a thriving success that has continued to grow since those first days in the early ’70s. From the first small group of franchise locations, the Chem-Dry network has expanded over the decades to offer thousands of successful franchises throughout the world—including Elmer’s Chem-Dry in Fort Smith.
